Owner Gene Gilbert

Welcome to Enterprise Farms.

I have loved horses all of my life!

Because I have taken riding lessons as a child and as an adult, I knew exactly the things I wanted in a riding school. I wanted quality, patient instructors who would help me to progress, encourage me, and be delighted when I did well; instructors who would explain to me that riding is learned in stages and that sometimes we may get “stuck” at a level, then forge ahead with a bound. I wanted trained, well-cared for and loved horses and I wanted riders to be able to care for these horses and not just hop on and off. I wanted a friendly, welcoming environment where the staff and the riders mingled and everyone enjoyed being there.

These are the things you will find at Enterprise Farms. We have wonderful instructors who not only are tops in their field, but who care about you and your progress. Whether you want to ride for pleasure or prepare for competition, our instructors have the knowledge and interest to teach you.

Our horses and ponies have come from a variety of places. All are School Masters, carefully selected to teach riding. They all have interesting stories from the “A circuit” horses now with us, to the outgrown ponies, the former rental string horses, and one was even rescued when his owner abandoned him. All have wonderful attitudes and, because they are never over used, they welcome each rider.

Enterprise owns twelve Caspian horses, a rare and ancient breed. There are less than 300 Caspians in the United States, less than 750 Caspians left in the world. We use these horses in our lesson programs.

We are proud that students who ride with us stay with us. We are able to teach all levels and ages of riders and offer private lessons as well as semi-private and group lessons. We teach complete horsemanship so you learn to care for the horse you are riding and the many responsibilities associated with riding.

Safety is a major concern of ours. We provide regulation helmets and other items to make your riding experience a safe and pleasant one. We encourage you to purchase your own equipment only when you are sure riding is something you wish to pursue.

We provide services to community groups such as Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and also offer an array of activities such as birthday parties and camps. Due to the increasing demand, we now offer camp year round.

We look forward to seeing you here at Enterprise Farms so I may have the pleasure of meeting you and introducing you to our staff –two and four legged. I am very proud of each of them and I know you will have a wonderful experience riding with us!
